Marvin Arrington began working for Leroy Johnson, one of the few prominent black lawyers in Atlanta who graduated from Morehouse College and got an early start as a Civil Rights pioneer. In 1962, Leroy Johnson was elected to the Georgia General Assembly becoming the first black state senator to be elected to the state legislature since Reconstruction.
